World Remembrance Day is an international initiative that is celebrated every Sunday in the third week of November every year. This initiative aims to commemorate road traffic victims and their families who are also affected by road accidents.

The celebration this year is themed "Justice". In this regard, Brunei Darussalam highlights the theme of Justice to the aspect of compliance with laws or regulations as well as respecting the right of every individual to enjoy safe roads as a public facility, namely equality which is also in line with the principles of Maqasid Syariah.

On 24 November 2022, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna binti Al-Marhum Sultan 'Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs graced the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims ceremony at Royal Berkshire Hall, Jerudong Polo and Country Club in her capacity as the Royal Patron of the National Road Safety Council (MKKJR).

In her sabda, Her Royal Highness mentioned that the Brunei Darussalam’s statistics has shown that active vehicles on the road has increased around 14,000 every year. The number of motorists has also increased whereby 5,576 people has gotten new licenses and 140,316 has renewed their licenses last year. This means that 1 out of 3 of the country’s population are motorists. She added that, while the rate of road accidents shows a downward trend from 3,515 cases in 2017 to 3,104 cases in 2021. However, the death rate from January to October 2022 is as many as 18 people compared to only 16 people last year. She hoped that all road users can cooperate and share responsibility where efforts need to be further improved.

Her Royal Highness then consented to view the exhibitions by MKKJR, Brunei Bridge Authority, Brunei Shell Petroleum Co. Sdn. Bhd. and Brunei Shell Marketing Co. Sdn. Bhd (BSM).
