Brunei Shell Marketing Company Sendirian Berhad (BSM) and Muara Port Company Sendirian. Berhad (MPC) signed an agreement for the supply of bunkering services on Monday, 21 September 2020. Signing on behalf of BSM, Hjh Rozalina Hj C A Mohamed, Sales & Marketing Manager and Suzelawati Hj Radin, Head of Commercial.
The MPC signatories were Mr. Zhong Kunyu, Director of Marketing & Business Development and Akmal Hanis Hj Jefri, Director of Strategic Management.
Present to witness the signing were representatives from MPC Shareholders, Mr. Lyu Guoli, CFO of Beibu Gulf Holding (HK) Co. Ltd and Johan Dato Paduka Dr. Hj Johar, Investment Manager atDarussalam Assets and Hj Hairul Radzi Shahri, BSM Supply & Distribution Manager.
Starting October 1, 2020, BSM shall commence operation supplying Marine Gas Oil (10PPM) to vessels calling at Muara Port via its own dedicated barge, Star 1. Star 1 will have a total capacityof 800 metric tonne.
This collaboration marks a huge milestone for the Port Industry in Brunei Darussalam where bunkering can be offered and further developed at Muara Port which will then contribute to the economy of Brunei Darussalam.
The “teensinai: AI for Good Hackathon” Demo-day was held at the Design & Technology Building on 19th September 2020. Present as the Guest of Honour was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah , Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II .BSM’s Managing Director, Muhammad Norshafiee bin Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil also attended the event as a demo-day judge.
After much deliberation from the judges, Mindspace, walks away with a cash prize of B$1000. Mindspace was also mentored by two BSM representatives, Hairul Radzi who is BSM’s Supply and Distribution Manager and Zaim Ismail, BSM’s Innovation Lead. BSM’s managing director was also invited to present the 1st Runner up Prize worth B$750 to Project Balmy .Little Bankers took third and rewarded with B$500. The top three teams were also awarded with internships at Legimus and mentorship with founder and CEO of Teens in AI, Elena Sinel.

Brunei Shell Joint Venture (BSJV) Companies and Brunei Gas Carriers Sendirian Berhad (BGC) held its 7th annual beach clean up in conjunction to the 35th International Coastal Cleanup this morning. A total of 3539KG were collected at 4 beaches across the districts.
In Muara Beach, the event led by BSM, started with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah and a Doa Selamat, followed with a welcoming remarks by BSM Managing Director, Muhammad Norshafiee bin Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil. Norshafiee highlighted that everyone has a part to play in achieving a waste free coastline and thanked the volunteers present for playing a part to support the community in ensuring our coastline remains free of waste for a cleaner world.
A safety briefing was then conducted by the Site Captains.
Volunteering in Muara were BSM Management and staff as well as its business partners, The cleanup at Muara Beach involved BSM government representatives and the local communities. Also present were Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Mohamed Bin Pengiran Haji Osman @Othman, Acting Penghulu of Mukim Serasa and member of the Legislative Council and Awang Misle bin Hj Abd Karim, Brunei-Muara District Officer.
The International Coastal Cleanup is the world’s largest single-day volunteering effort to clean up beaches, lakes and rivers. The campaign is held every third Saturday of September.
