Brunei Shell Joint Venture (BSJV) Companies and Brunei Gas Carriers Sendirian Berhad (BGC) held its 7th annual beach clean up in conjunction to the 35th International Coastal Cleanup this morning. A total of 3539KG were collected at 4 beaches across the districts.

In Muara Beach, the event led by BSM, started with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah and a Doa Selamat, followed with a welcoming remarks by BSM Managing Director, Muhammad Norshafiee bin Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil. Norshafiee highlighted that everyone has a part to play in achieving a waste free coastline and thanked the volunteers present for playing a part to support the community in ensuring our coastline remains free of waste for a cleaner world.

A safety briefing was then conducted by the Site Captains.

Volunteering in Muara were BSM Management and staff as well as its business partners, The cleanup at Muara Beach involved BSM government representatives and the local communities. Also present were Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Mohamed Bin Pengiran Haji Osman @Othman, Acting Penghulu of Mukim Serasa and member of the Legislative Council and Awang Misle bin Hj Abd Karim, Brunei-Muara District Officer.

The International Coastal Cleanup is the world’s largest single-day volunteering effort to clean up beaches, lakes and rivers. The campaign is held every third Saturday of September.
