This booklet will make it easy for you to learn how to treat LPG and LPG appliances correctly so that you may use it with confidence and convenience in safety.

Look For The Shell Logo
Cylinders bearing these Shell logos have been regularly tested to meet exacting international safety standards. Faulty tanks are immediately identified and destroyed to ensure your safety. Authentic Brunei Shell LPG Cylinders bear one of the following markings. When buying filled gas, ensure that the cap at the valve is in place. If unit found damage or mussing, do not accept it.

 

Regulators and Safety Devices
Regulators dispense a measured flow of gas to your appliance. Faulty regulators are dangerous and must be replaced immediately. Regulator should be check frequently and must be changed when it shows signs of told age'. Do not carry out any repairs should the regulator be faulty.

 

 

Store Tanks Upright
Always keep your LPG cylinder in an upright position with the valve at the top.

 

 

 

Turn Off Gas Supply When Not In Use
If you are not cooking for a length of time. " Always turn off gas valve as soon as you have finished cooking" Switch off your regulator after cooking 

 

 

 

Turning On Cylinder LPG
When turning on cylinder make sure appliance is off.

 

 



Store Gas Tank Correctly
Filled cylinder should be stored in an open space with good ventilation.

Keep a distance of I to 1.5 meters between your LPG cylinder and any electrical points and flame. If possible store your cylinder outside your kitchen.

 

 

Turning On Gas Cooker Valves
For non automatic cookers, light a match and hold at burner before turning on gas cooker valves.

 

 

 

Rubber Hose And Connectors
Replace cracked or damaged hoses immediately.
"Inspect your hose regularly" Replace cracked or damaged hoses immediately. Rubber hoses must be to British Standard BS 3212 and they must be marked as required by this standard.

Care of LPG Cylinder
To avoid damage, do not drop or drag the cylinder.
Do not place anything hot on top of cylinder.

 

 

Check For Leaks
You can check for gas leakage by applying soap solution. If gas bubbles form and grow in size, it indicates a gas leakage. Do not attempt any repair

If You Smell Gas

  • Turn off regulator.
  • Open all doors and windows
  • Do not use any phone or radio close to the cylinder
  • Take the cylinder outside and check for leak.

 

 

The Event Of Gas Leakage Or Suspected Leakage:
  • Extinguish all naked flames and ignition sources
  • Turn off all gas appliances.
  • Do not switch on or off any electrical equipment.
  • Turn off the gas supply at the cylinders and close the emergency shut-off valve, where lifted.
  • If the leak is indoors; open doors and windows to increase ventilation. Do not turn on the gas supply until it has been made safe to do so by a competent person.

 

 

In The Event Of Fire

Call the fire emergency services immediately and inform them that LPG cylinders are on the premises.

Turn of the gas supply if it is practicable and safe to do so.

Do not approach cylinders in the vicinity of the fire

 

Fire Prevention

Have a suitable fire extinguisher handy at all times. BSM recommends a dry powder fire extinguisher. Use only if you are trained.

 
 

Safety Tips

Do not temper with the cylinder valve & cap.

Do not change cylinders while/on nearby sources of ignition eg. flame, hot surfaces, smoking.

 

Always Turn Off The Gas As Soon As You Have Finished Cooking!!!
